This strategic agreement seeks to strengthen collaboration between professionals and institutions. It also, promotes projects that explore and develop technologies applied to the exploitation of mineral resources in space. Thisstrengthens the link between the scientific world and the mining industry.

Manuel Viera and his vision of space mining Chile

For Manuel Viera, our general manager and president of the Chilean Mining Chamber, collaboration between geologists and explorers is essential.

“It is essential that geologists and explorers actively participate in the development of space mining. This agreement reinforces the initiatives we are promoting to bridge the gap towards the exploration and exploitation of minerals in space.”

He also emphasized that the mining industry of the future requires preparation starting today, inviting professionals and investors to join the initiative.

Chilean Association of Geologists: pooling knowledge to innovate

Claudia López emphasized the importance of leveraging Chile's geological expertise in space exploration. In particularhe pointed out that combining knowledge is key to innovation. Therefore, the College of Geologists considers it essential to participate in this process:

“As the College of Geologists, we cannot miss out on this opportunity. It is essential to pool our knowledge to research, develop technologies, and also educate and raise awareness about space mining.”

The memorandum encourages the active participation of partners interested in applied research, human capital training, and astromining projects, integrating technical assistance and innovative studies.

Key objectives of the cooperation agreement

The memorandum of cooperation on space mining includes:

  • Develop astromining projects and manage mineral resources from celestial bodies.

  • Share technical information between both institutions according to their own decisions.

  • Promote the development of human capital through technical assistance, applied research, and expert training.

  • Disseminate research results while respecting the intellectual property of participants.

Space mining in Chile: invitation to professionals and investors

Signed during FEXMIN 2025, an event that brings together experts and investors from the mining sector, the agreement represents a unique opportunity for those who want to get involved in space mining in Chile.

“Space mining, like terrestrial mining, requires the collaboration of all professionals in the sector. We invite anyone interested in astromining to join this initiative. The mining of the future is being built today,” said Manuel Viera.

Claudia López added:

“There are countries that are very advanced in this area. Chile, with its vast mining experience, cannot be left behind.”

Chile heading to the forefront of astromining

With this agreement, Chile takes a firm step toward consolidating its position as a leader in mining innovation and space mining, promoting research, technological development, and specialized education. The Chilean Mining Chamber and the College of Geologists seek to bring professionals and investors together to explore new frontiers in mining, ensuring that the country is prepared for tomorrow's challenges.

In this context, Metaproject, under the leadership of Manuel Viera, reinforces its commitment to innovation and openness to new horizons in mining. The company's strategic vision is not only projected in the domestic industry, but also in pioneering initiatives such as astromining, reaffirming its role in building the mining industry of the future.
