Within the framework of EXPONOR 2026, Metaproject took part in the "Connected Suppliers" gathering hosted by Sierra Gorda SCM. This event brought together partner companies and key industry stakeholders to address the challenges that will shape the future of mining: innovation, productivity and sustainability.

The activity served to strengthen the bond between both companies and to highlight the importance of collaborative work as a driving force for generating solutions that add value to mining operations and contribute to the development of a more modern and responsible industry.

During the meeting, Sierra Gorda’s VP of Supply Chain, Sandra Montiel, emphasised the fundamental role that suppliers play in the company's growth strategy.

"You are a fundamental part of our strategy. The word 'connected' stems from the idea of being able to involve you in our business vision and understanding that you are vital to making our growth a reality, allowing us to remain pioneers in low-grade mining in a safe and sustainable manner," the executive noted.

For Metaproject, this vision represents the essence of the work the company delivers alongside its mining clients: providing knowledge, experience and technical capabilities to face the operational challenges of an industry that demands greater efficiency, innovation and sustainability.

Suppliers as strategic partners for more competitive mining.

During the event, Sierra Gorda SCM highlighted that it currently works with more than 3,250 suppliers, who represent an essential part of its operation and development. The company underlined that nearly 80% of its workforce is linked to partner companies, reflecting the importance of building long-term relationships based on trust and collaboration.

For Metaproject, participating in this type of gathering reaffirms the importance of the role played by specialised suppliers in the domestic mining sector, where expertise, engineering and innovation capacity are determining factors in improving productivity and creating more efficient operations.

For over three decades, the company has built a proven track record in the mining sector, supporting projects and operations through comprehensive solutions in engineering, project management, construction, operations and specialised services.

Sustainability and operational excellence: shared challenges

One of the main messages delivered during the activity was that operational excellence must progress hand in hand with sustainability.

Sandra Montiel stressed that supplier companies play a key role in this challenge, inviting them to participate in initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental, social and human rights standards.

"What we are looking for is to identify the gaps so that we can walk together on this journey, ensuring that we close any human rights divides. The way we operate must uphold our principles, regardless of who is leading an organisation," she stated.

This perspective aligns with Metaproject’s strategy, which views sustainability as a cross-cutting element of its value proposition, integrating safety, innovation, efficiency and a commitment to people into every project it develops.

Building the mining of the future together

Metaproject’s participation in EXPONOR 2026 and in the meeting organised by Sierra Gorda reaffirms its commitment to remaining a strategic partner for the mining industry, generating solutions that respond to the sector's emerging challenges.

In a scenario where Chile seeks to accelerate its mining development and capitalise on opportunities associated with copper and other strategic minerals, collaboration between mining companies and specialised suppliers will be key to moving towards a more productive, technological and sustainable industry.

"Building the mining of the future requires working together" is the shared challenge for companies like Sierra Gorda SCM and Metaproject, strengthening alliances that will transform today's challenges into opportunities for the industry of tomorrow.
