With the firm conviction that innovation and engineering will be fundamental to tackling the challenges of the next decade, Metaproject attended the inaugural breakfast organised by Antofagasta Minerals as part of EXPONOR 2026. The event brought together authorities, executives, trade union representatives, and supplier companies from the mining industry.

The activity marked the start of a new edition of Latin America’s premier mining and energy exhibition. Discussions throughout the event centred on the major challenges facing the sector: • Sustainability • Efficient water resource management • Productivity • The energy transition • Technological transformation

The gathering featured the presence of the Bi-Minister of Economy and Mining, Daniel Mas, who focused his speech on reviving business confidence and consolidating Chile's position as a global investment hub.

For Metaproject—a company with over three decades of experience developing engineering solutions, project management, innovation, and organisational transformation for the mining sector—these challenges represent an opportunity. It allows them to continue contributing knowledge, experience, and capabilities to build increasingly efficient, sustainable, and resilient operations.

The Future of Minera Zaldívar. One of the topics that captured attendees' attention was the future of Minera Zaldívar, an Antofagasta Minerals operation that is moving forward with initiatives aimed at strengthening its water sustainability and securing its long-term operational continuity.

The transition towards new water management models has become one of the primary challenges for modern mining, driving the development of increasingly sophisticated and integrated engineering solutions. From the perspective of Metaproject Group, initiatives like those championed by Minera Zaldívar reflect the evolution currently taking place within the mining industry, where innovation is no longer an option but a prerequisite for maintaining competitiveness and ensuring operational sustainability. "Innovation is no longer an option but a prerequisite for maintaining competitiveness and ensuring operational sustainability."

Collaborative Strategies. The participation of Antofagasta Minerals and the country’s leading mining companies also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between clients, engineering firms, technology suppliers, and public bodies. This cooperation is vital to addressing strategic challenges such as: • Decarbonisation • Automation • Water management • Digital transformation • The development of specialised talent

Throughout EXPONOR 2026, Metaproject aims to strengthen alliances, share experiences, and showcase capabilities that contribute to accelerating the transformation of mining. In doing so, the company reaffirms its commitment to an industry that increasingly demands innovation, operational excellence, and a long-term vision.

In a context where critical minerals will be essential for the global energy transition, engineering emerges as a key enabler to materialise the projects that will define the future of mining. It is precisely within this challenge that Metaproject continues to consolidate its contribution to the sustainable development of Chile and Latin America.
