Internships are not only a learning opportunity, but also a chance to discover vocations, strengthen skills, and bring fresh perspectives to teamwork.

Two of the most recent examples are Andrea Cortés Pozo and Pier Méndez Muñozwho joined Metaproject with the enthusiasm to learn from within an organization that integrates engineering, innovation, sustainability, and project management. Today, both stand out for their commitment, curiosity, and professional growth within a company that fosters talent development across multiple disciplines.

Andrea: from intern to Trainee Occupational Psychologist

When Andrea Cortés Pozo, who is in her final year of Psychology at Universidad Santo Tomás, was looking for a professional internship, she had a clear goal: to join a company connected to the mining sector. Her motivation was no coincidence; she comes from a family with a long history in the industry, which has allowed her to develop a deep interest in and understanding of the field. In that context, Metaproject it appeared as the ideal opportunity. After learning about the company through LinkedIn, Andrea didn’t hesitate to apply, beginning an experience that would become a milestone in her professional development.

“Throughout my entire internship, I felt very supported. I always had guidance to ask questions, request feedback, or learn something new. I didn’t find it difficult to learn about the engineering job profiles — I felt like I already knew and understood them well,” she says.

From her very first day, Andrea became involved in the Human Resources processes, actively participating in the implementation of the performance evaluation. In this context, she contributed to the development of a detailed manual for leaders and an Excel tracking sheet summarizing the progress of the evaluation. She also supported recruitment processes, fully integrating herself into the team.

Today, after completing her internship, Andrea continues her professional journey at Metaproject Group officially as a Trainee Occupational Psychologist.

“I developed what is known as clinical eye: that ability to identify whether a person is a good fit with their future manager and team. I also really value the work environment and the constant support from my supervisor; that motivated me to keep growing here,” Andrea highlights.

Pier: passion for mining and continuous learning

Meanwhile, Pier Méndez Muñoza Civil Mining Engineering student at the University of Santiago, Chile, joined Metaproject driven by his strong interest in mining. His journey began in the student mining ecosystem, where he was Vice President in 2024 and 2025 of SIMIN (the Mining Engineering Symposium of the University of Santiago, Chile)an experience that allowed him to connect with various professionals in the industry and paved the way toward his current internship.

“I’m a person who’s highly motivated by mining. I was proactive. I attended events like MinInnova and SIMIN, and reached out to many people in the industry. Thanks to those connections, I got to Metaproject,” says Pier.

During his internship, which ends on January 23, 2026he has faced new challenges and gained experiences that complement his academic training. “The process has been all about learning. Honestly, I never imagined I’d find so many things that you don’t get taught at university. It’s a completely different world, but I’ve learned so much thanks to the willingness of my team, who are always ready to teach and support,” he says.

For Pier, the most valuable part has been adapting to the professional environment and applying his knowledge in the field, thereby strengthening his commitment to the development of the mining sector.

Training, support, and growth

At Metaproject, professional internships are an essential part of our learning culture. We strive to ensure that each student can have a well-rounded, formative experiencewith guidance, real challenges, and opportunities to contribute value through their role.

Stories like Andrea’s and Pier’s reflect how vocation, effort, and the right guidance can pave the way for a promising career in engineering and project management.

At Metaproject Group, we believe in developing new talent and in the importance of providing meaningful work experiences for those beginning their professional journey.
